150 years ago the government tried to create a cure for cancer and other diseases. A serum that could help regenerate cells to over come the illnesses but instead it ended up causing them to break down and create mutations. This started an apocalypse type of scenario where people started to mutate into monsters like in the movies or fairy tales. It at first wasn’t controlled, making people attack others like zombies because they couldn’t control themselves but after 50 years the mutations evolved enough to balance itself out to where people were able to control their powers or mutations.
The society still sees them as a threat at times making supernaturals create a massive island in the Bermuda Triangle. Hidden from the world, behind glamour(magic that can hide anything’s true form) Any humans who ends up falling into the Bermuda Triangle often gets stranded on the islands and can’t find their way back or they get kidnapped by rogue/pirate supernaturals who
